Sign Of good Parenting

In today’s fast-moving world, parenting isn’t limited to just providing children with a good education.
Real parenting also means paying attention to their emotional, moral, and spiritual growth.
Every parent wants their child to be successful and respectful, but the true hallmark of good parenting lies in
instilling certain habits and values. Islam also considers parenting a huge responsibility,
and clear guidelines are given in the Quran and Hadith.
- Giving Love and Respect to Children
Good parents not only teach their children discipline, but also love and respect to them .When parents speak calmly and understand their children’s feelings, they become emotionally strong.Love and gentleness are also highly valued in Islam. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) treated children with great kindness. The Hadith states:“Whoever does not show mercy to our children and does not respect our elders is not one of us.”— (Sunan Abu Dawood book ref)
This hadith teaches us that parenting should be based not only on rules, but also on mercy and compassion.
2.Teaching Good Upbringing and Values
A major sign of good parenting is that parents teach their children values like honesty, patience, and respect. School education alone is not enough; character building is also essential. In the Quran, Allah Ta’ala declares:
“O believers! Save yourselves and your families from a Fire…”—( Surah At-Tahrim (66:6) book ref)This verse means that parents’ responsibility extends not only to worldly success, but also to preparing for the Hereafter.
3.According to the WHO (World Health Organization), Rsearch(https://www.unicef.org/india/what-we-do/early-childhood-development/parenting?utm_source=chatgpt.com)
Good parenting means providing children with a safe, loving, and supportive environment where their emotional and mental growth can occur in a healthy way. The WHO says that positive parenting—such as talking calmly, understanding children, and spending quality time with them—develops confidence, discipline, and emotional stability. Harsh behavior and constant shouting can negatively impact children’s mental health.
4.Listening and Understanding Children
Many parents today, due to their busy lifestyles, are unable to listen properly to their children. But good parents value their children’s thoughts and problems.
When parents actively listen, children feel emotionally secure and develop a strong bond with them.Consultation and understanding are also valued in Islam. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) listened patiently to people, even if they were children.
5.Maintaining Balance with Discipline
Over-strict parenting can make children rebellious, and over-freedom can make them irresponsible. Good parenting means maintaining balance.Islam teaches moderation. Balance and wisdom are valued in everything. Parents should adopt an approach of explaining and guiding rather than punishing.
6.Set an example
Children learn more from their parents’ actions than from their words. If parents demonstrate honesty, kindness, and patience, children naturally adopt them. The life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the best example. His character was so noble that people called him “Al-Ameen,” meaning trustworthy.Good parents first adopt the habits they want to see in their children.
7.Paying Attention to Religion and the WorldIn today’s times,
focusing solely on worldly success is not enough. Good parenting means imparting knowledge of both religion and the world to children.Prayer, dua, honesty, and good manners should be taught from childhood. Equal focus should be placed on their education and career growth. In the Hadith, the Prophet (peace be upon him) stated:“Each one of you is responsible, and each one will be questioned about his or her responsibilities.”(-Sahih al-Bukhari book). This Hadith reminds parents of their responsibilities.
Conclusion:-
Good parenting isn’t about being perfect, but rather a process of continuous learning and improvement. Parents who provide their children with love, respect, good upbringing, and Islamic values lay a strong foundation for their future.Islam teaches us that parenting is a trust. If parents fulfill their responsibilities with sincerity and wisdom, they can raise not only successful children but also good human beings.
